ANNAPURNA PANORAMA (18-days)
POON HILL – GHOREPANI – DHAMPUS TREK
Trip including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and Nagarkot
Best Season: February to April and late September to early December


This trip highlights the historical Kathmandu valley, Chitwan National Park, one of the finest safari parks, Pokhara valley and a popular trekking of Poon Hill – Ghorepani – Dhampus Circuit in the Annapurna Himalayas. On the trek you will be crossing through the fascinating landscapes, villages, Jungles of Rhododendron flowers (the national flower of Nepal), hot spring, water falls and be continually surrounded with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. Poon Hill (3200m) is one of the best points in this region for scenery. The panoramic Annapurna range, Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Dhampus peak, Nilgiri and many other Himalayas can be seen during the trek. At the end, you will have some free time in Kathmandu for rest, relax and shopping before leaving Nepal.
DAY ITINERARY ACCOMMODATION
1 ArriveKathmandu: meet at airport and greet transfer to your hotel. Evening free time. Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
2 Kathmandu: Kathmandu sightseeing - in brief, visiting Kathmandu valley starts from this day – visit Swayambhunath stupa (Monkey Temple), the glorious Buddhist shrine built in 1st century, Pashupatinath, the famous Hindu Temple of Lord Shiva and Bouddnanath, the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. 3 Kathmandu– Patan – Nagarkot: Patan is second largest old cities in Kathmandu valley, the temples and palace complexes built in 14-16th centuries called as ‘Durbar Squares’ that gives you historical background of Kathmandu valley. Today we visit Patan Durbar Squares en route to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a famous hill resort situated an altitude of 2175 m. above sea level. The panorama of central and eastern Himalayan ranges with sunset and sunrise view can be seen from Nagarkot on clear weather days. Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
4 Nagarkot – Bhaktapur via Changu Narayan Temple: After breakfast and sunrise view and breakfast at hotel, we proceed to visit Changu Narayan, the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu valley which was built in 323 AD. En route include one and half hours’ walking or mini hiking through scenic valley ridge and cultural village. Afternoon, visit Bhaktapur Durbar Squares also known as Bhadgoan, the medieval city and third ancient cities of Kathmandu valley. O/N. Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
5 Nagarkot – Pokhara: This is a long day trip, driving about 6-7 hours to Pokhara, the city of lakes. Pokhara is second tourist hob in Nepal and get way to the Annapurna Himalayan ranges and trekking. O/N Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
6 Trek: Pokhara -Birethanti, one and half hour drive to Nayapol-Birethanti, and trek from BIRETHANTI - ULLERI (2070m, about 5-6 hrs. Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
7 Trek: Ulleri - Ghorepani(2855m), approx. 4 hrs.
Ghorepani village is a popular stopover for donkey caravans traveling from Jomsom to Pokhara. O/N

8 Trek: Ghorepani - Hike Poon Hill(3200m) - Tadapani (2600m), 5-6 hrs walk:
Early morning one hour hike to Poon Hill for sunrise, which offers magnificent views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, The Nilgiris and Annapurna-1 and south. Upon returning from Poon Hill, take breakfast and trek to Tadapani crossing over Deurali Hill and descending through a scenic subtropical forest to Tadapani. O/n

9 Trek: Tadapani – Chomrong(1950m): about 4-hrs:
After breakfast and morning view from Tadapani, the trails proceed to Chomrong village, a scenic Gurung village. Chomrong is one of the most important markets towns in the area. Chomrong offers very clear view of Mt. Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhare (Mt. Fishtail).

10 Trek: Chomrong – Jhinu Danda Hot Spring - Landrung (1650m), about 4-hrs:
The trails descent towards to JHINU DANDA from where a side trip through forest path to some hot Springs on the banks of Modi Khola. There are two small ponds (two by two meters) and supplied with hot water from the Springs. It is very pleasant to relax here or simply for a wash. After here trip proceeds to Landrung village, another Gurung village. Most of the Gurung people from this area have served as Gurkha Solders - called “Gurkhas” in the British Army and their families were simple farmers and now they are also engaging in tourism as side income due to the tourism developed in recent years to this region.

11 Trek: Landrung – Dhampus (1700m), about 5-hrs:
Today the trails gently goes up-hills and down hills with scenic terraced farm lands and en route small villages; Tolka, Bheri Kharka, Bhichok Deurali (a hilly pass 2149-m), Pothana and a short forest walks to the large village of DHAMPUS. You will have a magnificent view of Annapurna ranges from west to east: Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Machhapuchhere or Mt. Fishtail (6993m) etc.

12 Trek: Dhampus – Phedi: 2-hrs and short drive back to POKHARA. A short treks descending down to Phedi, on the road from Pokhara to Baglung. Drive about 30-40 minutes to Pokhara, check in to hotel. Teahouse
13 Pokhara: free day in Pokhara on leisure or self-visit around; lake side, boating on Phewa lake etc. Teahouse
14 Pokhara – Chitwan NP: 160 km, after breakfast, we proceed to Chitwan National Park, about 5-hours scenic drive. Chitwan NP is one of the finest safari parks in Asia and a great home to many rare wild animals including Royal Bengal Tiger and the great Asian one-horn Rhinos. Teahouse
15 Chitwan NP: full day safari activities; include Elephant ride, Jungle walk, Canoeing, Animal and Bird Watching and evening local Tharu cultural show… Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
16 Chitwan NP – Kathmandu: This is another long day trip - driving about 5-hours back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and free time. Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
17 Kathmandu: Leisure day; free for your self-activities and shopping Medium to deluxe hotels/resorts
18 Departure from Kathmandu: After breakfast transfer to airport. Fly Kathmandu to your home.
